Optimalisasi Pemberian Pakan Ternak Babi pada Peternakan Rakyat di Gunung Nona Kecamatan Nusaniwe Kota Ambon

Pig farming has high economic prospects and growing demand, but its development faces serious obstacles. Based on a social approach with 32 farmers in Gunung Nona (approximately 150 pigs), the main problems include the high cost of commercial feed, the use of unhygienic waste feed (raw and dirty), low knowledge of nutrition and feed processing, and feeding inappropriately to the age and needs of the animals. The Community Service Program (PKM) activity aimed to improve farmers' knowledge and skills regarding alternative feeds, nutritional content, and hygienic processing techniques. The activity lasted for one week through observation, interviews, and active counseling. Solutions offered included: processing waste feed through cleaning and cooking, utilizing local feed (cassava leaves, papaya, banana stems, lamtoro, sago and tofu waste), planting green fodder (turi, moringa), and standardizing feed amounts according to age and growth stage, including the provision of clean water. The PKM activity concluded that farmers had not implemented good feed management. After the counseling, they began to understand the importance of hygienic and standardized feed to increase productivity and profitability.
